Centrally located on Alamo Plaza in downtown San Antonio, the Alamo features interactive tours and exhibits and hosts reenactments of the Texas Revolution. Founded in 1718 as the first mission in San Antonio, the Alamo served as a way station between east Texas and Mexico. In 1836, decades after the mission had closed, the Alamo became an inspiration and a motivation for liberty during the Texas Revolution. Today, visiting groups are invited to rediscover the gem of Texas history, stroll through the 4.2-acre complex, and Alamo Gardens, then head back down to the River Walk for local experiences in dining, shopping, and entertainment. Plan your next unique group adventure today!

Additionally, the Valero Alamo Bowl takes place at the Alamodome every year in December.

The pub opened September 11, 1974. Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub is a replica of the original Durty Nelly’s in Ireland, dating back to 1620, as part of the Bunratty Castle in Limerick, Clare Country. It's been part of the landscape at Bunratty for almost 400 years, and today continues to be the "favourite ‘watering hole’ of both locals and visitors alike." The concept of the San Antonio location came from Bill Hunter, general manager of Hilton Palacio del Rio in the 1970’s. After visiting the bar in Ireland, he returned to the Alamo City to convince Bartell Zachry (previous CEO of Zachry Construction Company and builder/owner of Hilton Palacio del Rio) to build an identical pub on a seldom used corner of the hotel. The pub is designed in the tradition of the European style with two fireplaces, slate floors and stone walls, and from the time its doors first opened to present day, this corner is a hot spot on the San Antonio River Walk.

Starting as a saloon in Beeville, TX in the late 1800s, the Schilo family moved to the big booming city of San Antonio in 1914. In 1917, Mama Schilo started serving some of her famous recipes like split pea soup, potato pancakes, homemade meatloaf, the list goes on… We believe this was in anticipation of prohibition which arrived a few short years later. Due to their innovation and foresight, they were able to successfully shift from being a strict saloon to a reputable restaurant in a few short years. Adding a homemade root beer helped get them through those dry years and their unwavering German work ethic helped them stay in business through hard times like the Great Depression and World War II. Walking through the front doors of the restaurant that was originally constructed as a currency exchange bank, is like walking back in time. Which is why it is certain to be on any local’s “must-do” list. And, fortunately real beer has been back on the menu for a long time!

Not a chain, and not mass-produced. Grab your group and drink local at Weathered Souls Brewing Co. They are independent and plan to stay that way. A welcoming brew community, Weathered Souls operates on the philosophy that if the beer is good, the people will come. So far, so good. The brewery keeps popular beers on tap, but their list changes often – stay in touch on their Facebook community for weekly release announcements. Also, they are serving up great food prepared by great folks, James and Natalie Cochran (of the Food Maniacs food truck).
