Slowed and Throwed: Virtual Artist Panel

November 11, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Join Artpace San Antonio for a virtual artist talk featuring artists in our current exhibition Slowed and Throwed: Records of the City through Mutated Lenses. The exhibition features unconventional photography and new media created by contemporary artists paralleling the musical methods of the “chopped and screwed” musical methods of the Screwed up Click. The talk will be moderated by Ruerob, Executive Director of Screwed Up HQ Non-Profit, dedicated to the legacy of DJ Screw (Houston, Texas). Participating artists include Liss LaFleur, Tay Butler, and Ann Johnson.

Slowed and Throwed: Records of the City through Mutated Lenses is on view at Artpace through November 21, 2021.

Slowed and Throwed is organized by Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) and curated by Patricia Restrepo, CAMH Exhibitions Manager and Assistant Curator, with guest curators Big Bubb, Owner of Screwed Up Records & Tapes, and E.S.G., rapper and member of the Screwed Up Click. The exhibition is also made possible through the assistance of Research Advisors Julie Grob, Coordinator for Instruction and Curator of Houston Hip Hop Research Collection at the University of Houston Libraries, and Rocky Rockett, independent hip hop educator. Slowed and Throwed is made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

This exhibition is made possible at Artpace thanks to the Artpace Pacesetters.
